Gas deliveries from Russia to Germany have recently been significantly reduced. The situation is serious, says Economics Minister Habeck. Now the Kremlin is speaking out.
Despite significantly reduced gas supplies to Germany, Russia has emphasized its role as a reliable energy supplier.
“Russia remains a highly reliable supplier,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday, according to the Interfax agency. He reiterated that the current reduction in deliveries is due to delays in repair work and missing turbines. “This is a man-made crisis. It was created by the EU, »said Peskov.
The Russian state-owned company Gazprom had significantly reduced the flow of gas through the Nord Stream 1 Baltic Sea pipeline in the past few days and presented the problems as a result of Western sanctions. Economics Minister Robert Habeck, on the other hand, suspects political calculations on the part of Moscow. “It is obviously the strategy of (Kremlin leader Vladimir) Putin to unsettle us, to drive up prices and to divide us,” he said recently. “We won’t allow that.”
