The 82-year-old Norbert Kroll from Hamm sensed a trick. An employee of HUK-Coburg offered him a bonus – for doing nothing. The insurance company would pay him 350 euros if he sold his GHG quota. GHG quota? The retiree had never heard of that.
The abbreviation stands for greenhouse gas emission reduction quota. A monster of words that did not help him. His concern grew that an insurance salesman was trying to sell him something through the back door. But the offer turned out to be serious. The answer to the riddle is in Kroll’s garage: an Opel Corsa, fully electric, Kroll’s first electric car.
