Scioli will intervene to curb speculative imports and those who take advantage of the double exchange rate

“Let people stay calm, this is a government that defends national industry and work. There are some who may, in this context of a breach of these characteristics, or who thought there was going to be a devaluation, may have left to import things they didn’t need”said the minister and added: “What can be manufactured in the country we have to defend it”.

The former ambassador has scheduled a series of meetings with leaders of SME and industrial organizations on his official agenda, in addition to meeting other officials of the national government.

At 4:00 p.m., he will visit the headquarters of the Argentine General Economic Confederation (Cgera), and then meet, at 7:00 p.m., with the authorities of the Argentine Confederation of Medium-sized Enterprises (CAME).

Finally, at 7:15 p.m., the minister will hold a meeting with the Board of Directors of the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA).

Over the weekend, Scioli said in an interview with Télam that he considers himself a “productivist, a born developer”, while rejecting the existence of a stocks on the dollar and gave as an example of this the volume of imports that currently exists .

“There is no stocks. Currently, imports are double what they were in previous years. Therefore, the judicious, optimal use of reserves, such as permanent monitoring, seems to me to be an act of responsibility”Scioli said.

In the same way, he reaffirmed that he will maintain the structure and the positions of the personnel that his predecessor brought, since the ministry is “ordered, with a program with clear lines of action.”

He stressed that his role will be focused on “the problem of SMEs, also in the area of knowledge, to continue industrializing Argentina and the issue of mining as a sector for generating dollars.”
