industry proposals

Before the businessmen of the UIA, who received him in the framework of the Executive Committee meeting, the former ambassador to Brazil said that “the industry has the solutions that the country needs” and pointed out: “I know the difficulties we face and I want us to face them together.”

Scioli was received by the president of the entity, Daniel Funes de Rioja, who gave him a copy of the White Book of the manufacturing plant, which includes proposals for “industrialist” economic policies. “Argentina must transform recovery into growth, and for that we need to agree on an agenda that values industrial assets and provides answers to the difficulties that arise in productive matters,” said Funes de Rioja. The UIA’s agenda includes the energy issue, the problem of access to diesel and the interior, and access to foreign exchange for the import of inputs.

The SME entities also presented their proposals to the new minister. Scioli went to the headquarters of the CGERA and there the entity led by Marcelo Fernández proposed an import administration scheme that would be under analysis by the Secretary of Industry, Ariel Schale. The idea is thatEvery 30 days, SMEs that need to import supplies or raw materials that are not produced in the country submit a sworn statement. The import amount should not exceed 25% of the monthly billing. The entity stated at the meeting that this mechanism will provide certainty in terms of imports to the industrial sector on the foreign exchange it requires.

On the other hand, the minister visited the CAME, where he was received by the head Alfredo González. The businessman described as very positive the meeting with Scioli with whom they have been working on foreign trade, in his previous role as ambassador to Brazil.

“The resolution of the Central Bank hurts us a lot,” Gonzáles told Ámbito when referring to the ceilings set for the authorization of import operations. The ceiling is 5% of last year’s billing and 70% of 2020. “It makes us unfeasible,” said the businessman. González trusted that in negotiations with Schale that limit could be made more flexible. The head of the CAME said that “the State has our CUITs and knows what we invoice”, with which he believes that a more agile mechanism for access to foreign currency could be implemented.
