Russia has drastically cut gas supplies. Saving energy is the order of the day. Robert Habeck tells what he does at home.
Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) says he has been taking shorter showers since the outbreak of the Ukraine war.
“I stick to what my ministry recommends. I’ve significantly reduced my shower time again,” Habeck told the “Spiegel” when asked how he saved energy in everyday life. “I’ve never showered for five minutes in my life. I’ll take a quick shower,” the Vice Chancellor continued.
Habeck had recently called for energy saving several times because of the reduced gas supplies from Russia and also launched a corresponding campaign.
Dependence on Russian gas was also an issue at an EU summit in Brussels on Friday. When asked whether reducing personal shower time was a sensible recommendation for all Germans, Chancellor Olaf Scholz said after the summit: “I think the minister only wanted to speak for himself on this issue and not tell others what to do .»
