Stock exchange in Frankfurt: Dax continues to give way

The Dax expanded its slight previous day losses on Tuesday. The leading German index fell in early trading by 0.37 percent to 15,867.15 points. On Friday, the stock market barometer broke the 16,000 point mark for the first time.

In the second German stock exchange league, the MDax, it went down on Tuesday by 0.26 percent to 35,630.90 points. The leading Eurozone index EuroStoxx 50 fell by 0.4 percent.

In the afternoon, important economic data from the USA are on the agenda with retail sales and industrial production. In the evening, statements by US Federal Reserve chief Jerome Powell could provide clues about the possible reduction in economic security purchases by the Fed expected by the market.

In the Dax, the shares of Delivery Hero continued their recent downward trend according to business figures of the competitor Just Eat Takeaway and fell by around one percent. Just Eat Takeaway’s expansion course pulled the Dutch food delivery service deep into the red in the first half of the year. The company spent a lot on advertising. Delivery Hero itself had sobered investors just a few days ago with a lowered margin target. This had accelerated the downward trend again.

At the top of the MDax, the Varta papers rose by a good three percent after an analyst at DZ Bank recommended buying the battery company’s shares.

Positive comments from an analyst also boosted the shares of auto parts suppliers Norma Group and Stabilus. The papers gained just under two and almost three percent respectively, making them the favorites in the SDax small cap index.
