After ten years, Maria Miranda quit her job at a research and development service provider last year. The search for a new dream job in research and development led her to the Career Forum in Linz: “I’ll stay the whole day, brush up on information at the workshops and use the opportunity to talk to companies.” Maria Miranda is one of several hundred people who are willing to make a change and who are starting their careers and who came to the Palais Kaufmännischer Verein in Linz yesterday, Tuesday, to find out about opportunities on the job market. Numerous local companies were present to talk to the visitors and exchange contact details.
“Ask questions about everything that interests you”, Georg Spiegelfeld gave the visitors as a tip at the opening round: Because according to the curator of Wifi Oberösterreich there are “no stupid questions”. Helge Löffler, partner at the consulting and auditing company KPMG, emphasized that the fair was of great importance for making contact with young, potential employees.

What is important when applying
The exhibitors at the eleventh career forum organized by OÖN and Salzburger Nachrichten had brought numerous jobs and internships with them, which they presented throughout the day. While there was a lot of activity at the stands, empathy was the big topic on the festival stage: Armin Havlik (KPMG) and Stefan Trotter (Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce) informed the audience how to put themselves in the position of their counterpart.
The AMS checked the application documents: “Some visitors took the opportunity and the quality was very good across the board,” said Monika Beer. Your tip for the application documents? “Pay attention to the structure. And the contact details must be up to date.”
