Podcast special
US-based founder and activist Asher Jay speaks at star-Podcast special “The Green Boss” about women in the start-up scene and how she wants to convince companies to do real climate protection instead of greenwashing.
Asher Jay takes a pragmatic approach to saving the world: you can’t change the world the way it is overnight, she says star-Podcast special “The Green Boss”. However, that doesn’t stop the Indian-born, US-based designer and activist from continually trying. In an interview with hostess Simone Menne, she reports what she has learned.
“Unless you have a strong financial argument, you don’t even need to talk about ecology. Especially in places that are driven by economic interests, where it’s the only language they understand. You have to find ways, renewable methods or ecological and to embed sustainable thinking in the business premises. And that’s how you sell it to them,” says Jay. She is not afraid to talk to critics and do some convincing – especially when it comes to climate protection. “I know people who think very differently than I do, also in terms of values, knowledge and thoughts, and we still have strong friendships (…) It’s because I look for the good in everything,” she says.
Asher Jay’s activist art has already made it to New York’s Times Square
Asher Jay is a passionate advocate for wildlife, blending art and design with activism. One of her best-known works was an anti-ivory campaign that reached millions of people on billboards in New York’s Times Square. She recently became a founder and wants to prevent companies from greenwashing with her tech start-up using blockchain technologies. Jay talks to Menne about why the combination of blockchain and environmental protection is not a contradiction in terms for her and what she advises women who want to start a business: “Don’t stop, no matter how much resistance you get!”
Also in this episode of “The Green Boss,” she shares why she loves going to parties where insects are served as food, and why she found everything she needed to start her own tech startup in rural Montana, of all places, rather than New York. to set up.
For Simone Menne, who has been a member of the Greens since 2021 and is involved in “Germany’s future perspectives” for climate protection, the climate special “The Green Boss” is an affair of the heart. “Economy and sustainability belong together. I am firmly convinced that ambitious climate protection is essential for our long-term economic and social success. In order for this to succeed, we need role models who proactively contribute to solving our problems and use their power in a targeted manner.” For three episodes she therefore talks to top women who are committed to environmental protection.
In “The Boss – Power is Female” top women talk to each other: hostess and multi-supervisory board member Simone Menne (including BMW, Deutsche Post DHL, Henkel) meets female bosses from all areas of society to talk to them about their lives and careers. “Die Boss” appears every fortnight on Wednesdays on and on all common podcast platforms.
