How door-to-door shopping will work after the quota ban

The text of the official communication indicates that “financial entities and non-financial credit providers must not finance in installments the purchases of their clients -human and legal persons- of “products abroad that are received through the postal delivery system without commercial purpose according to the Customs Code, nor for international freight services, couriers and customs procedures management”.

What will now be the requirements for the purchase

Consumers can buy as many times as they want, but keeping in mind that each one can receive up to 12 shipments per calendar year of up to US$50 each, tax-free, as established by AFIP. In addition, you can use the quota throughout the year as you wish, it does not have to be one package per month.

At the time of making the declaration, the consumer has to pay the mail management fee that includes the costs of storage, presentation to Customs and the administrative management that must be carried out with each of the shipments that arrive from abroad, regardless of its weight and value.

If the purchase exceeds US$50, 50% of the excess must be paid for customs taxes, at the official exchange rate. It should be noted that the system is for products of up to 20 kilos and US$3,000 and always for personal use.

Regarding the payment of taxes, If the purchase is made through the Argentine Post Office, each client must make the declaration in the company’s international shipment portal and there the system determines whether or not to pay them according to the value of the shipment and the franchise available.

Meanwhile, if an item is purchased that costs US$70 and the person has space available, they will pay 50% tax on the excess of the franchise. For example, for a purchase of US$70, the surplus is US$20, while for 50% of that surplus, US$10 of taxes should be paid.
