“Here I can get a lot of information without having to apply everywhere, and I can talk to the exhibitors,” says Medina Tihak. The qualified teacher, who most recently worked as a school assistant for disabled children, is looking for a job in youth and adult education. Hundreds of other visitors did the same thing this week as Medina Tihak did: They came to the Palais Kaufmännischer Verein in Linz and found out about job offers from companies and internships at the eleventh edition of the career forum presented by OÖN and Salzburger Nachrichten.
Numerous employers presented themselves to the young professionals and those willing to change jobs, including the plastics and foam manufacturer Greiner: “There is a lot of interest, but I also notice changes among the young people,” said Tina Mutschler from the Greiner training center. Just a few years ago, the profession was the focus of interest. “Today, for many people, the decisive factor is whether they feel comfortable in the company.”
“It’s not easy to find good people,” said Sophia Mayrwöger from the HR team at the Schwertberg pool producer Steinbach. She was also able to make contact with students at the careers forum: Jan Hintersteiner, student at HAK Perg, and his classmates were not only interested in the inflatable unicorn that was being raffled off at the stand: “A tour of the company would also be very cool.”
