For now, the President returned to Olivos after this Saturday afternoon he was in the province of Buenos Aires at a family event. During the table talk he received a call from Guzmán who informed him of his decision to resign. There will be no meetings as it slipped at first. Alberto Fernández will take a few hours to define the successor and it could be known on Sunday afternoon.
Beyond the name chosen to replace Martín Guzmán, what slips from the Government is that economic policy will not change much. The line will remain the same as until now, in line with what was agreed with the IMF.
Along with Guzmán, meanwhile, the secretaries of state who answered directly to the minister resigned, including Sergio Chodos, representative to the IMF. The Secretary of Energy, Darío Martínez, with whom Guzmán had had a strong short circuit in recent days due to his decision to disregard energy segmentation, has not yet made a statement.
The resignation of Martín Guzmán and the officials who responded to him may not be the only ones. More Cabinet and depth changes are not ruled out, in what could serve as a relaunch of the Government thinking about 2023. At the moment one of those who had to go out to deny rumors of resignation is the president of the Central Bank, Miguel Pesce.
