The electrical industry is booming: Goods worth 108.3 billion euros were exported in the first half of the year.
The German electrical industry significantly increased its exports in the first half of 2021 and left the Corona crisis behind.
Exports worth 108.3 billion euros exceeded the previous year’s period by 13 percent and were also 1.8 percent above the value from the pre-crisis year 2019, as the industry association ZVEI reported on Thursday in Frankfurt. Imports grew by 17.6 percent to 103.9 billion euros over the course of the year.
The highest half-year growth rates for exports came from France (plus 21.6 percent) and Italy (plus 26.7 percent). The two most important export markets, China and the USA, grew by 11.5 percent and 8.0 percent respectively.
China also remained by far the most important importer of electronics to Germany: In the first half of the year, the value of goods imported from the People’s Republic was 30.5 billion euros, almost 22 percent higher than a year earlier. In the foreign trade balance, these imports contrasted with 12.3 billion euros (+11.5 percent) in exports.
