The investment consists of the acquisition of continuous casting equipment for the manufacture of billets or steel bars, which serve as raw material for a rolling mill. With the investment, FSC plans to optimize its metal smelting capacity and improve the plant’s energy matrix, which will increase the number of tons melted per month, reducing total energy consumption. The company is located in the Almirante Brown Industrial Park, in Burzaco. Received an investment credit from BICE for the Energy Efficiency line amounting to $205 million over a 7-year term. In addition, being a company led by a woman, it entered the “Women who Lead” program and the bank financed 100% of the project. The firm also operates with BICE’s foreign trade lines since 2017, it has a current line of US$1 million.
The announcement was made during a visit by the president of BICE, José Ignacio De Mendiguren, to the industrial plant located in the Almirante Brown Industrial Park in the Buenos Aires town of Burzaco.
“This family business is the largest foundry in the country: from scrap it produces parts with high added value and technology, 80% of which are exported to more than 15 countries around the world. These are the projects that show that Argentina has an enormous comparative advantage to insert itself in the current and future global economy, with its own development model”, said De Mendiguren.
“A new and challenging market is opening up for the development of FSC. We are enthusiastic about sustaining the business diversification strategy that brought us here,” commented Ana María Sforzini, one of the company’s owners.
During his visit, the head of BICE met with the president of the Almirante Brown Industrial Park, Hernán Pereyra. They analyzed the level of activity of the park and the different problems that some of its industries are going through.
De Mendiguren commented: “The park’s level of activity remains high, with one of the highest rates of installed capacity.” “Some companies that need imported inputs show concern about access to them and also with the significant increase in international prices.” The vice president of BICE, Raquel Kismer, also participated in the tour of the plant. On behalf of FSC, Enzo Sforzini, Ana María Sforzini and Carlos Sforzini, directors and owners of the company, and Hernán Pereyra, president of SIPAB (Almirante Brown’s planned industrial sector) were present.
