The Customs highlighted that the Regime created through that Decree seeks to promote the national integration of motorcycles and “strengthen the national industry.”
By virtue of the verification actions implemented by the agency, it was possible to detect that they were motorcycles with a cylinder capacity of 160cc and that several constituent parts were mounted on the frame, failing to comply with the requirements to be able to enjoy the tariff benefit.
Through this maneuver, the taxpayer pretended to enjoy a tariff preference and enter the merchandise applying a rate of 0% as Import Duties, when in fact he must pay a rate of 35%.
“The objective of Customs is to protect the national industry and Argentine employment,” said the director of Customs, Guillermo Michel.
Now, that body will proceed with the application of the corresponding customs infraction and the release of the merchandise will be possible only to the extent that the established fine is complied with.
On the other hand, he guaranteed that they will work with a “selectivity system” to ensure that imports under this tariff position “have an exhaustive physical and documentary control.”
