Minister Bauer pointed out: “I never imagined from the perspective of the cinema the exponential growth that this industry was going to have. We are talking about an industry that not only exceeds that of cinema, in terms of volume as a market, but also that of cinema and music together. Our commitment is to continue working together and together, we know the impact and the possibilities that this industry has; We are going to continue working with all our energy and in harmony.”

Meanwhile, Costa highlighted the articulated work to promote Buenos Aires companies. “These ministries are working together in an industry that has enormous potential, and for a jurisdiction like Buenos Aires it is of strategic importance,” he said, adding: “We are faced with the challenge of accelerating the regulation of the Province’s adherence to the knowledge economy law. We understand that we need this instrument to generate opportunities for entrepreneurship and for Buenos Aires companies”.

The national video game industry has more than 100 companies, employs almost 2,000 people and concentrates more than 100,000 higher education students linked to gaming activities. According to the Observatory of the Argentine Video Game Industry, this subsector represented more than $86 million dollars in 2020, of which 77% corresponds to exports, with the United States and Canada as the main markets.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary of Industry, Knowledge Economy and External Commercial Management, ariel schale; the secretary of Cultural Development of the Ministry of Culture, Lucrecia Cardoso; the Undersecretary of Knowledge Economy, Maria Apollito; the Undersecretary of Productivity and Regional Development for SMEs, Paul Bercovich; and the president of the Cultural Institute of the Province of Buenos Aires, Florence Saintout. From the private sector, the CEO of 30GS, representative of the first company registered in the LEC of Videogames, Mauritius Navajas; the Executive Director of the Video Game Development Association of Argentina, Miguel Martin; the CEO of Grupo Núcleo, Mauro Guerreroamong other authorities.

The Ministry of Productive Development has carried out a set of initiatives that promote the potential of an Argentine video game and E-gaming industry that is growing, through programs such as ‘Soluciona’, which finances projects of companies that make part of the different industries that make up the Knowledge Economy, or ‘Promote the Video Game Industry’, which allocates $250 million for projects of companies, associations and universities, which improve the quality standards of the industry and contribute to the increase in employment in it , both directly and indirectly. The call is open until July 29.
