Häagen-Dazs: Manufacturer has to recall ice cream because of ethylene oxide

Several European countries recalled Häagen-Dazs ice cream products last week. Now Germany is also reacting. Residues of ethylene oxide may be present in the affected ice cream.

General Mills, in cooperation with Genuport Trade GmbH, is recalling the products “Häagen-Dazs Vanilla” and “Häagen-Dazs Classic Collection”. There may be residual ethylene oxide in both packages. Recalls have already been started in several European countries in the past week.

Häagen-Dazs may contain residual ethylene oxide

Both the “Häagen-Dazs Vanilla” 460-milliliter pack, with the barcode 3415581101010, and the “Häagen-Dazs Vanilla” 95-milliliter pack, with the barcode 3415581311716, are affected by the recall. In addition, the “Häagen-Dazs Classic Collection 4 x 95 milliliters” with the barcode 3415581505719 is being recalled. Only products with a best-before date of May 21, 2023 are affected by the campaign.

Customers who have already bought one of the affected packs can return it to their respective point of sale and receive a refund of the purchase price. According to the manufacturer, other Häagen-Dazs products can be consumed without hesitation.
