June inflation was 5.3%, according to INDEC

It was followed by Housing, water, electricity and other fuels, with 6.8%, due to the incidence of the increase in electricity and gas rates, and the parity of building managers in housing expenses, and Alcoholic beverages and tobacco, with 6.7%.

Meanwhile, the category Food and non-alcoholic beverages marked an increase of 4.6% and it was again the one that had the greatest incidence in all the regions in the evolution of the consumer price index.

Within this last item, the rise in Vegetables, tubers and legumes, as well as meat and derivatives.

In June, the two items with the smallest increase for the month were Communication, with 0.4%, and Education, with an increase of 2%.

They estimate 76% inflation for the whole year

According to market analysts consulted by the Central Bank, the inflation retail sales for the sixth month of the year stood at around 5.2%. In addition, financial market agents raised their inflation estimate for the entire year to 76%.

These results were the product of the survey carried out by the BCRA between June 27 and 30, before the former Economy Minister resigned, Martin Guzman.

In it, forecasts from 38 participants were considered, among whom were 26 local and international consultants and research centers and 12 financial entities from Argentina.

The Minister of Economy, Silvina Batakisavoided making an inflation projection for the current year, pointing out that “it would be very unprofessional for me to risk today saying what the inflation projection is in this unprecedented situation of global imbalance.”

At a press conference given last Monday, Batakis stressed that, due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and rising commodity prices, “we are in a totally different situation than a situation where one could make projections inflationary”.
