According to OMV, the market will decide whether the gas actually arrives in Austria. Its former CEO Gerhard Roiss sees no problem in this: “The most expensive gas is the gas that you don’t have when you need it”.
Supply and demand: In the “ZiB2” Roiss said he could well imagine that the Austrians would be willing to pay more for gas if there were no other alternatives. “Especially not in this situation”
The problem, however, is how OMV now deals with information about its intentions. Roiss criticizes the lack of transparency. “I expect OMV to clearly state which gas is available for Austria. A crisis requires transparency and I expect that above all from companies that have a moral obligation to supply,” said Roiss.
