London’s Luton Airport suspended flights this Monday due to runway problems caused by the heat wave that has affected the country.
“After today’s high temperatures [segunda-feira], a surface defect was detected on the runway. Engineers were immediately called to the scene, and repairs are underway to resume operations as soon as possible,” the airport said in a Twitter post.
Temperatures in England have already reached 37 degrees, according to the Reuters news agency, and it was predicted that this Monday or Tuesday temperatures could hit a record high of 38.7 degrees. Most European countries have also been affected by high temperatures.
