Silvina Batakis and Santiago Cafiero highlighted the record level of exports

They accumulate a year-on-year increase of 26.6%, and it is estimated that in the first six months of the year they will reach US$44.5 billion and end the year at around US$90.0 billion, being the maximum volume in history.

Which products grew the most

The largest increase is observed in wheat with US$1,805 million; corn, US$998 million; crude petroleum oils, US$922 million and biodiesel, US$655 million.

The three main partners of Argentina were Brazil, China and the United States, together they absorbed 26.3% of exports and supplied 52.0% of imports from January to May 2022.

On the other hand, the highest surpluses corresponded to trade with Chile (US$1,874 million), the Netherlands (US$1,388 million), India (US$1,386 million), Peru (US$909 million), Indonesia ($902 million) and Algeria ($860 million).

Both ministers highlighted with regard to the bilateral meeting that President Alberto Fernández will hold with his counterpart from the United States, Joe Biden, that Argentina has a positive agenda to work on in relation to our country’s export offer, but also on specific developments such as the linked to renewable energies, the great possibilities linked to natural resources and the technical capacity of the technological scientific apparatus.

Finally, Batakis and Cafiero highlighted MERCOSUR’s intra-zone trade, which reached US$17.5 billion in the first 5 months, with a 19% year-on-year increase. Argentina increased its exports to the bloc by 16% and its imports by 22%. The bloc’s extra-zone trade was US$287.4 billion, an increase of 28% so far this year.
