In fact, the initiative expresses in its foundations that the current government “may not condition, restrict or delegate measures of the financial entity without express authorization from the National Congress.”

Nieri explained to the press that “the first and fundamental objective” of the initiative is to “defend the value of the currency” and “preserve its stability.”

The Mendoza, former Minister of Treasury and Finance of the provincial governments of Alfredo Cornejo and Rodolfo Suárez, pointed out in turn that the project aims at “the prohibition of any type of loan from the Central Bank to the Treasury, call it transitory advances or profits.”

In addition, he indicated that the project of his authorship seeks to limit the holding of public assets of the Central Bank, which he accused of having been canceling debt with reserves through non-transferable titles.

“The Central Bank currently has 40 or 50% of its assets in public securities,” he complained, and affirmed in this sense that “that has led us to this dramatic situation that does not even last for a month of imports.”

Beyond his proposal on the modification of the Organic Charter of the Central Bank, the opposition deputy asked to agree on the diagnosis of the systemic currency problem that drags the country.

The legislator of Together for Change considered that a problem “is the size of the State” and in this sense he suggested “shrinking ministries, stopping appointing officials, and holding contests with qualified people to achieve greater efficiency” in state benefits.

Asked about the attempt of the new Minister of Economy, Silvina Batakis, to calm the markets with announcements of fiscal austerity, Nieri remarked that “if there is no clarity in the government binomial of where they want to go” no Minister of Economy can do well, “be it Guzmán, Batakis or whoever” .
