Within the framework of the agreement with the dairy sector, Minister Silvina Batakis highlighted the “dialogue with the sector to bring certainty to consumers and producers”, while he recognized “the expansion, not only in the total volume but in the diversity of products and the number of SMEs and adhered brands”.
For his part, Secretary of Internal Trade of the Ministry of Economy, Martin Polleraremarked that “The agreement provides for tripling from 1.8 million liters of fresh milk to 5.5 million.”
Also participating in the signing were the Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Nation, Matthias Lestani; the national dairy director, Arturo Videla; the president of Apymel, Paul Villain; the president of CIL; ercole felippa; and the JPL representative, Octavio Bermejo Hilger.
For their part, dairy entrepreneurs also pondered this understanding reached with the national government, which they considered “unprecedented” and called to “continue working together with all the actors in the sector.”
From this voluntary agreement, which will be in force until October 7, the monthly volumes of refrigerated and long-life milk, butter, milk cream and all varieties of cheese will be increased.
In this sense, it is a basket of better quality and more representative of family consumption that incorporates different varieties of milk, cream cheese, butter, dulce de leche, yogurts, spreadable cheese and mozzarella.
This understanding also reinforces the contribution of SMEs and adds 19 new brands. Thus, of the total of 34 supplier companies, 20 are small and medium-sized companies.
