This year’s state apprenticeship competition for installation and building technicians, in which the best young installers in Upper Austria competed for the title of state champion at the Linz 8 vocational school, was a pure Mühlviertel affair. After two intense days of competition, this was finally secured by René Steinkellner.
The young Pabneukirchner, who is in training at Perger Forstenlechner Installationstechnik GmbH, won ahead of his work colleague Fabian Woldrich from St. Thomas, who also works for Forstenlechner, and Florian Rippatha from Naarn (apprenticeship: Ernst Grillenberger GmbH, Baumgartenberg). Steinkellner and Woldrich have secured tickets for the federal apprenticeship competition and thus also the chance to qualify for the state championship and subsequently for the Euro and World Skills. The young plumbers had to demonstrate their professional skills with a basic installation for gas, cold and hot water including drain pipes – using a wide variety of installation materials and connection techniques.
