The government, Misericórdias and private institutions for social solidarity (IPSS) will reach an agreement on a new anti-inflationary support, as political commentator Luis Marques Méndez announced in his comment on SIC. The emergency amount per user of nursing homes and kindergartens (until the end of the year) also provides for the reinforcement of partitions, effective retroactively to the beginning of the year.
Misericórdias and IPSS’ special support for inflation includes €18 per user per month for nursing and disabled homes, as well as €6.60 per user per month for day and home support, according to Marques Mendez.
“This is a measure that will apply exclusively this year (from July to December 2022),” the social democrat said, adding that “the cost to the state is 18 million euros.”
Along with this emergency support, contributions to Misericordias and IPSS will be increased. For nursing homes, the monthly cost per user increases by 8.5%, from €433 to €470. As for day centers, it increased by 12%, from 125 euros to 140 euros. The new values are retroactive until January 1, 2022.
If they are implemented, these measures will be added to the free kindergartens (for children born on September 1, 2021 and attending kindergartens for the first time from September 2022), which Prime Minister António Costa announced last week during a debate on the provision in the country. .
“The third good news, by far the most important of all, is that kindergartens are free,” Marques Mendez said on this occasion. Social Security is starting to pay institutions 460 euros per child per month, and so far the support has been 293 euros. “Families no longer have any costs. The state replaces families in the payments they have made.”
“This is a socially important step, especially for the most vulnerable families. This is a good incentive to increase the birth rate. It is a pity that this measure will no longer apply to private kindergartens. will happen in the future. Kindergartens are important in the public, social and private sectors,” he added.
