This is the first face-to-face meeting that Batakis and Georgieva will hold after the virtual contact they had on July 6, after the minister was sworn in as the new head of the Palacio de Hacienda.

Also, the meeting is part of the official debut tour of Batakis in the United States, where, at the request of the President, the official objective is that they “listen and know how the new official thinks”, and expose the action guidelines that will be taken the Argentine government in economic matters.

After meeting this morning with Yanet Yellen’s adviser, David LiptonBatakis crossed a few blocks down one of the emblematic Washingtonian diagonals, Pennsylvania Avenue, to go to the headquarters of the international organization, accompanied by the Argentine ambassador, Jorge Argüello, and his second, Karina Angeletti.

The agenda with the IMF also includes a working lunch with Ilan Goldfajn, director of the multilateral organization for the Western Hemisphere; Luis Cubeddu, head of the Mission for Argentina; and Julie Kozack, deputy director of the Western Hemisphere Department, who will become deputy director of the Fund’s European Department in August.

Batakis, together with the Deputy Minister of Economy, Karina Angeletti, arrived this Sunday at noon in the US capital and in the early afternoon held his first working meeting with Ambassador Jorge Argüello at the diplomat’s residence.

After the meeting with the directors of the IMF, In the afternoon, Batakis will meet with the Director General of World Bank Operations, Axel Von Trotsenburg.

East TuesdayMeanwhile, the Minister of Economy will share a working breakfast at the headquarters of the Argentine Embassy with investors and analystsamong which executives from Santander Investments, Stone Harbor, Goldentree, Bracebridge, Barcaly’s Capital and Banza, among others, have already confirmed their presence.

After noon, Batakis will participate in a meeting that will take place in the US Chamber of Commerce in which he will give a speech and in which he will later will hold bilateral meetings with the president of the oil company Chevron for production and exploitation in Africa and Latin America, Clay Neff.

In the afternoon, the head of the Palacio de Hacienda will continue with a series of bilateral meetings with directors of General Motors, Amazon and Google.

Batakis’s trip took shape at the end of last week, after the suspension of the meeting that President Alberto Fernández planned to hold with Joe Bidendue to the coronavirus picture that the US president is undergoing.
