Lidl warns customers against consuming a popular cheese product. The food could contain plastic particles.
The Goldsteig Käsereien Bayerwald warn of foreign bodies in grated Emmental cheese. It is the product “Milbona Emmental grated, 250g” with the best before dates September 8th and 10th, 2022 and the label “DE BY 301 EG”. The recall was published on Monday on the nationwide portal Lebensmittelwarning.de.
Lidl takes back products even without a receipt
The cheese was sold in Lidl stores in Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Brandenburg, Hamburg, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate and Schleswig-Holstein. The packs would be taken back there and the purchase price refunded, even without a receipt, said the cheese dairies from Cham in eastern Bavaria.
“It cannot be ruled out that the affected product contains blue plastic foreign bodies,” it said. Since the plastic particles can cause serious injuries in the mouth and throat as well as internal injuries and bleeding, consumption is strongly discouraged. Customers should never eat the grated cheese.
