The President of the Republic this Sunday promulgated a Government Decree establishing a temporary remuneration regime for emergency medical doctors, emphasizing the urgency of this measure.
The diploma provides that doctors in the emergency department will receive more: 50 euros per hour from 51 to 100 hours of overtime work; 60 euros from 101 am to 3 pm; and 70 euros for the 151st hour of overtime. The regime will be in effect from August 1 this year to January 31, 2023 to fill the shortage of clinicians.
On Saturday, the National Federation of Physicians asked Marcelo Rebelo de Souza to take the rule to the Constitutional Court, deeming it a violation of the Constitution.
