Alvaro Sobrinho embezzled 9.3 million euros

The former president of Banco Espírito Santo Angola (BESA) embezzled and embezzled 9.3 million euros, defends the charge of the Central Directorate of Investigation and Criminal Action (DCIAP).

Alvaro Sobrinho, who is also one of Sporting’s major shareholders (through Holdimo), is accused of aggravated breach of trust, qualified fraud and aggravated money laundering in connection with events that took place between 2007 and July 2014 .

Former BESA director and Escom president Hélder Batalha, as well as former BES president Ricardo Salgado and former directors Amilcar Pires and Rui Silveira are accused of the same crimes.

The latter “knew the real state of the BESA loan portfolio and the vicissitudes associated with it”, namely the outline of a four billion euro sovereign guarantee signed by former Angolan President José Eduardo dos Santos.
