According to information available at 22:30 on the website of the National Office for Emergency Situations and Civil Protection (ANEPC), a fire in the bush and pine forest area in the Revel area, Vila Pouca de Aguiar, in the Vila Real area, 197 operatives mobilized supported by 54 machines.
The fire alarm was raised at 17:14 and in a short time most of the resources were mobilized for this incident, which, according to the Vila Real District Command for Relief Operations (CDOS), did not endanger the villages after all. half a day. .
According to ANEPC, it was an active fire that mobilized significant resources at 22:30.
During the cleanup or completion phase, there were 37 fires involving 987 firefighters and 292 vehicles across the country.
Of the fires that started this Wednesday afternoon and were extinguished, the fire in Quintanilla (Braganca) still attracted 113 operatives supported by 41 vehicles, while in Vicentes, Pombal (Leiria), there were 87 firefighters with 26 ground funds and in Alpallao, Macao (Santarem), there were 82 operational officers with 23 vehicles.
The fire that started on Tuesday in Trofa (Porto), which is still under control, required the mobilization of 83 operatives and 24 vehicles, while in Silves (Faro), 132 firefighters continued to work on the spot, supported by 46 vehicles in extinguishing the fire, which started on Tuesday and it was this Wednesday in conclusion.
On Tuesday, the government decided there was no need to resume high alert to respond to wildfires as weather forecasts indicated a “normal summer situation”.
The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) predicts that the next few days will be warm and windy, especially on the coast, but within the normal limits of summer.
