The industry accumulates a growth of 4.7% in the first six months of the year

The data corresponding to the second quarter show that the industry advanced 5.9% in the interannual comparison. Regarding the growth of the activity at the level of industrial sectors in the first semester and in the comparison with the same period of last year, automotive production accumulates an improvement of 27.4%, followed by the production of non-metallic minerals with a growth of 8.6%, metalworking with 8.4% and the production of paper and cellulose with 7.2%. Advancing with a growth rate below the average in the January-June period and in the comparison with the first six months of 2021, the basic metal industries (+4.7%), chemical and plastic supplies (+3.9%), petroleum processing (+2.8%), food and beverage production (+1.8%) and textile inputs (+0.3%). Cigarette shipments in the first half reached the same level as a year ago.

In the first six months of the year, automotive and metalworking production continue to make the greatest contribution to industry growth, while the performance of non-metallic minerals, basic metal industries and oil refining improved. Chemicals and plastics once again reduce their contribution to the growth of the industry.

By way of synthesis. In June, industrial production maintained its growth rate in the year-on-year comparison, while it registered a new fall in the measurement adjusted for seasonality. The lack of diesel led to logistical problems that affected specific activities. Towards July the authorities have deepened the measures for the management of foreign exchange, with disparate results between sectors in terms of access. The disorder on the foreign exchange front has impacted the normal development of business. Added to the foregoing are specific conflicts such as the one affecting tire production.
