CGD and Novo Banco sell Esegur to Spanish company Trablisa

Security company Esegur, owned 50% by Caixa Geral de Depósitos and 44% by Novo Banco, was sold this week to Spain’s Trablisa, state bank president Paulo Macedo said Friday.

During a press conference on the results of the first half of the Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD), Paulo Macedo revealed that “Esegur has been sold” to Trablisa.

The sale of the security company, which was owned by the Banco Espírito Santo group and currently owned by CGD and Novo Banco, was completed this week, according to the manager, for an undisclosed amount.

However, Paulo Macedo stated that the impact on equity was small but positive.

“This operation took many months, more than seven months,” he said.

This Friday, CGD announced a consolidated profit of 486 million euros in the first half of the year, up 65% from the 294 million euros recorded in the same period last year.
