Gasoline and diesel prices in the Azores fell 2.3 cents per liter on Monday following a cut in the tax on petroleum products (IPS), according to an order published today in the Official Journal.
“Recent changes in the international market of basic prices for oil and energy justify the adjustment of the maximum price for the sale to the population (PMVP) of gasoline grade IO-95, diesel fuel for road use and fuel,” the order says. prices for the sale of fuel to the public in the Azores, published in the Official Journal and effective on 1 August.
The price of 95 octane unleaded petrol is reduced from 1912 euros to 1889 euros, while the price of diesel fuel is reduced from 1768 euros to 1745 euros.
The 2.3-cent decline came as a result of the ISP change, which cut 9 cents for gasoline and 11.3 cents for diesel.
The ISP now charges 36.6 cents per liter for gasoline and 14.2 cents per liter for diesel.
“With the current scenario of an increase in the average price of fuel, explained by the persistence of the combination of exogenous factors that gave rise to it, namely the imbalance of supply and demand in international markets, it is necessary to carry out a new emergency reduction in the ISP unit rates applicable in the Autonomous Region of the Azores to unleaded gasoline and diesel fuel for use on the roads,” justifies the executive branch of the Azores in a resolution of the Government Council, published today in the Official Journal.
The price of non-ferrous diesel fuel for agriculture and fisheries is also reduced by 2.3 cents per liter, as specified in another order.
The cost of colored and labeled diesel fuel consumed in agriculture decreased from EUR 1,286 to EUR 1,263, while the consumption of colored and labeled diesel fuel in fisheries decreased from EUR 1,096 to EUR 1,073.
Heating oil with a sulfur content of less than or equal to 1%, intended for other consumption, supplied in bulk to distribution companies on each island, costs 0.787 euros per kilogram, which is 4.1 cents less than the previous month (0.828). Euro).
Fuel oil for power generation, supplied in bulk to distribution companies on each island, has been reduced on São Miguel Island from €823.05 to €780.88/t and on Terceira from €851.99 to €809.82/t.
In Pico, it falls from 983.96 to 968.20 euros/t, and in Faial, from 969.87 to 954.11 euros/t.
The price of butane gas sold in cylinders, by pipeline or in bulk, does not change and varies from 1348 euros per kilogram (in bulk) to 1618 euros per kilogram (a 24-liter bottle made of lightweight materials is sold to the public at the point of consumption).
Maximum oil and energy prices in the Azores “change on the 1st of each month and in amounts equivalent to the change in the monthly European price (PE)”.
In November 2021, the Azores Regional Government “initiated ISP reductions of four cents for 95 petrol and two cents for on-road diesel”.
From April 18 to April 30, he provided “an additional support of 11 cents” to “soften the impact of higher fuel prices in the European market.”
At the end of April, the Azores executive branch applied a further 11 cent ISP cut, “given the ongoing geopolitical and military conflict in Ukraine, as well as its impact on rising commodity prices, especially oil and its derivatives.”
