Lenzing’s profit fell by a quarter in the first half of the year

The result for the period fell by around a quarter to EUR 72.3 million, as the company announced on Wednesday. The operating result before depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) fell by 13.3 percent to 188.9 million compared to the same period of the previous year. However, the operational targets for the year as a whole remain unchanged.

The earnings development reflects “the cost development on the global energy and raw material markets, which affected the entire processing industry,” said the fiber manufacturer in a press release. The energy, raw material and logistics costs increased drastically again in the reporting period. Nevertheless, it is assumed that EBITDA for the full year will be significantly above the level of the full year 2021. Last year, an EBITDA of EUR 362.9 million was achieved.
