The capacity offered in the warehouse was 6.7% higher than in June 2021 (9.4% for international operations), reflected in an increase in year-on-year growth of 2.7% registered in May.
The Comercial activitywhile, grew slightly in June as lockdowns in china relaxed due to the Omicron variant, and emerging regions (Latin America and Africa) also contributed to growth with stronger volumes.
New export orders, a leading indicator of cargo demand and world trade, declined in all markets except China; and the war in Ukraine continues to affect cargo capacity used to serve Europe, as several Russian and Ukraine-based airlines were key players in cargo.

“Air cargo demand during the first half of 2022 was 2.2% higher than pre-Covid-19 levels (first half of 2019). That’s a good performanceparticularly considering the ongoing supply chain constraints and loss of capacity due to the war in Ukraine,” said Willie Walsh, IATA Director General.
And he closed: “Current economic uncertainties have had little impact on air cargo demand, but developments will need to be closely monitored in the second half.”
