The Digitalos honors the country’s digital pioneers and greats

Digital pioneering achievements have the potential to change the world. When the two Americans Larry Page and Sergey Brin developed a search engine in a garage in 1998 and named it “Google”, no one could have guessed how omnipresent it would be in our everyday lives almost 25 years later.

The fact that companies and founders from Upper Austria can also have a say in digital innovations with great impact is demonstrated by the annual list of winners of the digitalos clear. Choose at the fourth edition of the Digitalos Upper Austrian news, Sparkasse Oberösterreich, tobacco factory, state of Upper Austria, city of Linz, KPMG and Wiener Stadtische the winners in five categories and give the country’s digital highlights a stage.

The five categories

In the category “Digital Start-up” Young companies with a unique idea and growth potential are sought. In 2021, the Mühlviertler were allowed to Neoom groupwhich wants to accelerate the energy transition with software, are happy about the first place.

The ability to take business models from the analogue to the digital age is recognized in the category “Digital Transformation” honored. A price that the Innviertler floor manufacturer Tilo could claim for itself last year.

“Digital pioneering work” is the category for those people whose extraordinary achievements have particularly shaped the federal state. Christa Sommererwhich at the Linz Art University the Department for Interface Cultures directs, was awarded at the previous year’s edition of the Digitalos for their digital-interactive art installations. You cannot apply in this category; the jury determines this award.

Clubs, institutions, networks or groups that have distinguished themselves through their digital commitment to society will be included in the category for the first time this year “Digital Engagement” given a stage, since social and societal responsibility is more important than ever, even in the digital age.

The winners will be selected by an expert jury consisting of JKU professors, among others Martina MaraCouncilor for Economic Affairs Markus Achleitner (ÖVP) and the Mayor of Linz Klaus Luger (SPÖ) selected.

The award ceremony will take place on October 6th in the Promenade galleries of the OÖ Nachrichten held in Linz.
