2. For those who asked to maintain the subsidies, the rate with full subsidy will remain in force up to consumption of 400 kWh per month in the case of electricity. Above that limit, they will begin to pay the full rate only for incremental consumption. For example, if the consumption of the home is 401 kilowatts, the full rate will be charged on one kilowatt.
3. For those who have social fee they will keep the subsidy in its entirety, even when they exceed 400 kilowatts of consumption.
4. The consumption limit of the different services will take into account the different areas of the country (by temperature or access to services).
5. In the case of gas, the subsidy will be removed by region, based on climatic differences and distribution costs, as well as seasonality. In water, the application starts in September.
Rates: how much will users spend?
Based on the new rates, households that no longer receive the state subsidy will have an additional $3,500 increase in their electricity bills, which will be applied in three stages.
As of September, for example, the one who is losing the subsidies will have an increase of $1,200; while the rest of the users will not have new increases during 2022.
In the case of gas, increases will be applied to users with higher purchasing power (level 1) and those who have not completed their data on the form to maintain subsidies. In these cases, the first increase in gas consumption will be made on August 31. The second adjustment will apply to consumptions made as of October 31, 2022 and the third adjustment will be as of December 31, 2022.
For the rest of the users, they have already registered an increase in the average bill for consumption of between 18% and 25%. Social rate users did not register and will not register increases.
Regarding water, through Resolution 91/2022 published in the Official Gazette, the Ministry of Public Works made official the increase in the water service rate for users of the City of Buenos Aires and 25 districts of the Buenos Aires suburbs, supplied by the company Agua y Saneamientos Argentinos (AySA). As AySA had proposed, it will be 32% until October.
The increase in the water rate has already become effective as of July, but the second part will be implemented as of October.
