Lufthansa believes it has bottomed out

In the current flight chaos, Lufthansa sees the worst effects as having been overcome. “The bottom has been passed, flight operations are largely stabilized,” says Group CEO Christina Foerster in the Funke media group. Among other things, 500 employees from the administration at the airports would help out to deal with the problems. The call center staff is to be tripled in the course of 2022.

Foerster also referred to many sick leave that could not be “so easily” compensated. There will only be a significant relief with the winter flight schedule at the end of October. At the end of July, the pilots made a fundamental decision to go on strike, but negotiations will continue for the time being.

SAS pilots are getting cheaper

In Denmark, Norway and Sweden, pilots of the airline SAS have voted in favor of a negotiated collective agreement. On July 19, after tough negotiations, the unions and the SAS agreed on a five-and-a-half-year wage agreement. The pilots agree to earn five percent less and fly more in the high season. This will make the pilots cheaper by a quarter for the ailing airline.
