Gasoline sold 0.9 cents higher than the ERSE benchmark, while diesel sold 0.1 cents lower.

During the week of August 1-7, average prices at gas stations were 0.9 cents higher than the average weekly price determined by ERSE and 0.1 cents lower for diesel fuel.

The information is contained in the Household Weekly Sales Price Surveillance Report released this Monday by the Energy Services Regulatory Authority (ERSE).

“Regarding the previous week, it was found that the average selling price for the public, announced on the porticos and published in the Balcão Único da Energia, was 0.9 cents per litre. [cêntimos/litro] higher than this week’s effective price for plain gasoline 95 and 0.1 cents/liter lower for plain diesel.”

Thus, according to ERSE, “in percentage terms, plain 95 gasoline was declared on taps 0.5% above the effective price, and ordinary diesel fuel was declared 0.1% below the effective price.”

The effective price “is the average weekly price determined by ERSE and is the result of the sum of the following components: fuel prices in international comparison markets and related shipping, primary logistics, including in this part National Oil’s strategic and safety reserves, incremental costs with the inclusion of biofuels and retail component plus relevant taxes,” the regulator said in a statement.

ERSE emphasized that “even compared to the previous week” for discounted prices, which are average prices published by the Directorate General of Energy and Geology (DGEG), “95 plain gasoline showed a deviation of -2.8% compared to the price. The effective price and plain diesel fuel is 4.8%”, and “in absolute terms, these estimates for plain gasoline 95 are -5.4 cents/l, and for plain diesel fuel -8.7 cents/l below the respective efficient prices.

According to ERSE, this week (August 8-14) “the effective pre-tax price is 1045 EUR/l.[euros/litro] for plain petrol 95 and 1147 euro/l for plain diesel”, and “after taxes the effective price is 1848 euro/l and 1821 euro/l for plain petrol 95 and plain diesel, respectively”.
