The Ministry of Finance said today that more than 37,500 taxpayers have accessed IRS Jovem this year, covering €506 million in income from work, an average of €380 for every young person covered.

“Following the completion of the IRS income generated campaign in 2021, it turned out that 37,558 young people benefit from IRS Jovem, and the total amount of income from work is 506 million euros,” the office, headed by the minister, said in a statement. Fernando Medina.

According to the ministry, “this means that on average each of these young people has a monthly income of 960 euros and a tax credit of 380 euros per year when joining IRS Jovem.”

The tax costs associated with IRS Jovem of the 2021 IRS campaign, whose declarative delivery phase ended on June 30, are around 15 million euros, the office adds.

This was the second year of the IRS Jovem, a measure “aimed at encouraging the qualifications of young people and supporting their integration into adulthood and the labor market after graduation,” the same source emphasizes.

In the first year of the measure, 1,020 young people benefited from the measure, and the “significant increase” in the number of currently registered beneficiaries is justified by the “implementation of an alert system by the Revenue and Customs (AT)”. , at the time of filing a declaration on the distribution and promotion of the regime, ”the Ministry of Finance said in a statement.

IRS Jovem guarantees in 2021 an IRS exemption of up to 30% of income from dependent work earned by young people aged 18 to 26 after completing a cycle of study from level 4 of the Qualifications Framework (secondary education obtained through dual certification courses or secondary education directed for higher education plus professional internship – at least six months).

The State Budget 2022 (OE2022) has extended IRS Jovem from three to five years, and also covers the self-employed and young people with a PhD under the age of 30.
