The Mining, Chemical and Energy Industrial Union has spoken out in favor of employers being allowed to temporarily inquire about the vaccination status of their employees. Union leader Michael Vassiliadis told journalists in Berlin on Wednesday evening.
The fight against the pandemic justifies a one-time exemption from occupational safety, said Vassiliadis. It is difficult to explain why the vaccination certificate is necessary for every short visit to the café, but not at work. More transparency about the vaccination status in the college also serves the safety of the employees.
It thus occupies a different position than the DGB or Verdi, for example. Vassiliadis also stressed that everything had to be done to ensure that more people can be vaccinated. A possible 2G regulation in companies, i.e. access only for those who have recovered and who have been vaccinated, cannot be made with the union.
