In principle, some 4,000 units per year would be manufactured, distributed between the van and passenger versions, but there would be the possibility of doubling that volume if an export agreement to Brazil is closed.

Considering that the plant Zarate is working at maximum capacity, the idea is to expand the facilities in that establishment. In principle, it would have very little national content and would be made with imported parts. Later, local auto parts would be incorporated.

In the supplier network they ensure that the project is already approved and that a second round of quotation of parts is already being carried out with the confirmation of local production.

According to company plans, based on information accessed Ambit, Before the end of the year, work will begin on the new facilities with the aim of start production in 2023 or at the latest 2024.

This is a project that the former president of the automaker, Daniel Herrero, had been promoting to expand the industrial offer in the country. The new owner of the terminal, Gustavo Salinas, continued promoting the plan that would take the company to a new production record.

The idea of the terminal is to exceed 180,000 manufactured units and for that a third shift will be launched, as company authorities confirmed to the then Minister of Productive Development, Daniel Scioli, in his brief tenure in office.

With the Hiace utility, it would be close to breaking the 200,000-unit ceiling.

The start-up of the third shift is key since, from the parent company, the aforementioned production volume objective was set. Reaching it will allow disbursements of new investments.

Among the company’s plans is the production of a hybrid Hilux pickup in the country, which would make the company the first to establish this technology in the country.
