Energy crisis: fuel prices are no longer falling

Recently, fuel prices had become steadily cheaper. But this descent seems to be over now. Super still costs a lot, diesel has even become a little more expensive.

The temporary slide in fuel prices at Germany’s gas stations seems to have ended. According to ADAC, a liter of diesel currently costs 1.925 euros on average nationwide, 3.5 cents more than a week ago. Super petrol of the E10 variety costs an average of 1.708 euros, almost unchanged in a weekly comparison, as the car club announced on Wednesday in Munich. In the previous weeks, Super had steadily become cheaper.

The fuel discount ends on August 31, but according to the ADAC, fuel prices do not necessarily have to skyrocket again afterwards. The petrol stations would have an interest in filling their tanks with low-taxed fuel in August, which they can still sell after September 1st. Nevertheless, the ADAC advises looking around for cheap fueling opportunities before the end of the discount.
