The largest Airbus model is no longer in production. It’s over this year.
The aircraft manufacturer Airbus will deliver the last three large-capacity aircraft of the A380 series to the Arab airline Emirates this year.
The very last machine ordered “is to be added to the fleet in November, bringing forward the original delivery time of June 2022”, as the airline announced on Wednesday. Emirates is the largest buyer of the A380. “With these deliveries, Emirates’ A380 fleet will total 118 aircraft in November,” the press release said.
Airbus decided in early 2019 that production of the world’s largest passenger jet, the A380, would be discontinued. The double-decker passenger jet had been causing Airbus great concern for a long time. In the past few years, hardly any airline had ordered a model. Airbus threatened to run out of orders. A total of 251 units have been ordered since the A380 program was launched in the middle of the previous decade, of which 248 have been delivered to date.
