Gewessler is quoted as saying that by securing the pipeline capacities from Norway, purchasing a strategic gas reserve of 8.5 terawatt hours and other measures, dependence on Russian gas was reduced from 80 to less than 50 percent. “By 2027 we will have ended our dependence on Russian natural gas.”

Its board member Wolfgang Urbantschitsch spoke yesterday of nine data collections with 150 addressees – from large customers to energy suppliers, network operators and storage customers.
The new advisor to the energy minister, Walter Boltz, called for a rapid expansion of the gas infrastructure in order to be able to import 100 percent of the natural gas from Germany, Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. He said the next two winters would be challenging.
