“The knowledge economy is one of the engines of the dollar factory that the country needs to start up. It is a state policy that the government is promoting so that it continues to generate quality employment and foreign exchange for the country,” said José Ignacio de Mendiguren, secretary of Industry and Productive Development, when reporting the numbers of the sector.
“This growth trend in the sector will be strengthened with the policies that we are going to deepen at the request of Minister Sergio Massa,” emphasized the Secretary of Knowledge Economy, Ariel Sujarchuk, a sector that he considered “fundamental in generating foreign exchange and genuine employment.” .
Strong rise compared to 2019
Compared to pre-pandemic levels, May 2019 registered an increase of 26.4%, that is, a total of 29,505 new jobs.
At the national level, all the regions of the country presented more employment compared to a year ago.
Patagonia was the region with the highest year-on-year expansion in May (+24.5%) and generated 254 new jobs in one year, while in the NOA it had an increase of 9.7% and in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, which concentrates the largest amount of employment in the country (68.5%), the increase was 10.1%.
Among the measures aimed at the sector, Sujarchuk mentioned the training of 70,000 programmers in less than a year with the Argentina Program, the release of tax quota bonds for the benefit of some 450 companies, the DNU project to create a differentiated dollar that reduces gaps and greater facilities for invoicing in dollars for professionals who export services abroad.
Since October 2020, female participation in total employment has grown: in May it reached 33.2% (46,831 jobs) and had an increase of 15.7% compared to May 2021, while men increased 8.3% ( a total of 94,031 positions), 7,238 more compared to May 2021.
The weighted average salary reached $267,011, which in real terms increased 0.7% compared to last year and, since the end of 2018, has risen uninterruptedly every month.
