This was announced by the Federal Network Agency on Thursday in its latest gas management report. In June the value was 13.6 percent and in May 11.6 percent below the four-year average.
“The decline in gas consumption in industry shows that we can manage to avert a gas emergency,” said Klaus Müller, President of the German Press Agency. “As painful as the tremendously high prices and savings may be, a real gas shortage would be even more severe.”
In the future, the authority wants to publish data on gas consumption in industry every Thursday. In addition to the weekly values, the percentage decrease in consumption should be shown on a monthly basis. A presentation of the gas consumption of household customers is also being prepared.
