“The reactivation is ongoing in the pine forest area, there is no home in danger and it is not expected to happen,” Miguel Fonseca, District Commander of Relief Operations (CODIS), Vila Real, said during the situation. reporting to journalists.

The commander added that the resumption of fire in the afternoon was facilitated by changes in weather conditions, namely the direction and strength of the wind on the spot.

However, Miguel Fonseca hopes there will be a “slight drop” in wind strength overnight to help complete the work.

As reported on the website of the National Office for Emergency Situations and Civil Protection (ANEPC), at 20:35 387 operatives were mobilized with the support of 112 pieces of equipment.

The fire, which started in Samard, broke out at 7:00 am on Sunday, flared up in three directions, was extinguished on Monday, and has resurfaced in the past few days, including due to high temperatures and strong and erratic winds. gone.feeling in the territory.

On Tuesday morning, a fire alarm was issued in Lamas de Olo, already within the Alvao Natural Park (PNA).

“Perhaps it is our deep conviction, arson outside the controlled perimeter,” Vila Real Mayor Ruy Santos said this Wednesday, referring to this second fire.

The president said those specific fires are “under investigation by the competent authorities.”

Ruy Santos recorded fires on an area of ​​about 6,000 hectares.

There is still an ongoing fire in the Vila Real area of ​​Valpazos that has experienced reactivation this afternoon after it was reported Tuesday evening that it was in the process of being extinguished.

At the moment, 191 operatives and 56 pieces of equipment have been mobilized to this fire, and work is underway in a hard-to-reach zone.
