Gamescom in Cologne is the world’s largest trade fair for computer and video games. Some visitors come to the “Festival of the Gaming Scene” in the disguise of their online heroes.
After a first trade visitor day, the computer and video game fair Gamescom in Cologne has now opened to all other visitors.
According to the trade fair, there was a “strong rush” at the entrance at 10 a.m. Even after that there was a lot going on in the halls. Specific visitor numbers will be announced in the final report. The fair ends on Sunday.
Festival of the gaming scene
For Gamescom, it was sort of a comeback as a real event. During the corona pandemic, the trade fair switched to a digital format. Now many visitors can come again. The number of visitors from the pre-Corona period, when around 370,000 people came to Cologne in 2019, will probably not be reached this year. Gamescom is both an industry get-together and a festival for the gaming scene. Some visitors came in disguise.
Around 1100 exhibitors had announced themselves. However, a few large companies such as Sony, Nintendo and Electronic Arts, which used to fill half the halls, are missing.
