Fewer chips are currently being delivered than are needed. The entire car manufacturing industry is affected, including a Toyota plant in the Czech Republic.
The shortage of semiconductors continues to slow down car production at the Toyota plant in Kolin, Czech Republic.
After the summer break, which has been extended by three weeks, the assembly lines are starting up again, as a spokesman for the car manufacturer confirmed on Monday. However, only several hundred cars are to be manufactured this week. Before the chip crisis, there were up to a thousand vehicles a day.
The spokesman said that the situation would be reassessed every day based on information from the supplier companies. In Kolin, which is about 60 kilometers east of Prague, the Japanese manufacture the Aygo small car, among other things. More than 3000 people are employed in the plant.
The entire automotive industry is affected by the semiconductor shortage, so that factories from different manufacturers have to repeatedly interrupt production.
