The segmentation of gas and electricity rates begins with 9 million subscribers

From the Secretary of Energy of the Nation pointed out that the implementation in each of the gas and electricity distributors can be reflected in the next ten daysas the respective provincial regulatory entities communicate the new rate charts to be applied and the list of beneficiaries.

User data will be crossed with the AFIP

In turn, it is expected that in September the data of those registered will be crossed with the National Tax and Social Identification System and the Federal Administration of Public Revenues (AFIP). The data crossings will also allow updating the inclusion parameters and the changes in the particular situations of each user and family group.

On the other hand, it was announced that since August 1, when the RASE was reopened for new registrations or modifications of the information provided, the withdrawal of 25,000 users was received who initially signed up and then gave up applying for the subsidy.

Regarding the increases, the national authorities clarified that will only affect Level 1 users, that is, those with the highest income or those who have not completed the form. On Level 2, with lower incomes – with 6.5 million people-, and Level 3 -2.5 million-, this year they will not see changes in rates.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Energy announced that there are people who, although they have not registered in the system, still meet the requirements to sustain the subsidy. That’s why, field work will be key to identifying these low or middle income users.

The portfolio led by Flavia Royon estimates that the impact on billing will begin to be reflected in mid-October. At that time of year, with less cold and a seasonal reduction in energy prices, the impact on rates is not expected to be very high.

What will the new tariff scheme be like?

A user of Level 1 of the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA), who consumes up to 100 kWh, which corresponds to the R1 category, and in August pays a bill of 650 pesos, with the reduction of subsidies he will pay around 1,000.

In the case of the R2 category -which brings together 44% of users with consumption of up to 250 kWh-, which until today paid bills of up to 1,600 pesos, it will pay 2,450.

Users of the R9 category -with consumption of up to 1,401 kWh per month-, will pay 19,000 pesos, against the 14,000 that they currently pay.

In the cases of beneficiaries of other levels (2 and 3) of subsidies, who will not have formal increases, they will have to pay a full rate only if the consumption exceeds the limit of 400 kWh per month.
